To celebrate baseball’s opening day and week I have put my baseball book on free until Thursday.
In other news I just sent out advanced review copies of The Dark Cloud Rises-The Dolbin School Book 2. It will be available on April 28.
Occassionally you get a review you like and want to share. Today was a long day work.
So it was nice to see this review on Goodreads.
“It’s one of the best children’s books I now have for my collection.”
Thank you so much once again for choosing me as a winner to read your book. My boys loved it. When reading it to them they were on the edge of their seats wanting to know who would win the game. It was nice to have a new book to read them. The pictures were a great addition too. Its one of the best children’s books I now have for my collection. Cannot wait till my youngest grows up so we can share the book with him as well.
If you’re a teacher and want to write I hope you do and get to feel this.
If you are interested in free short stories, and getting my next book for free before it hits Amazon, and other items I find useful and interesting, please join my Insider’s List.
So my latest book is now ready in the Kindle Store.
I can never release books on the original schedule I want. I had hope to get the book out during the summer in the middle of the baseball and summer movie season, thus combining the two things that inspired the book. But oh well.
I laughed though when I saw the lists that it appeared on. Apparently future Hall 0f Famer Derek Jeter has also gotten into the publishing business and his company decided to pre-release a book the same week my book came out. It still makes me laugh.
Here’s to hoping baseball see Derek’s book and there is my book at a much cheaper price. Hey! It’s only 99 cents for a few days!
But in all honesty this is as close to Jeter as I will ever get so I am going to smile and enjoy it.
Here is a new illustration from Baseball and Aliens. Check out John’s Tumbler here. If anyone wants to help start a company that makes Holographic Umpires let me know.
You can pre-order the book here. It will be released at the end of September.
Also Dolbin School for the Extraordinary is a Kindle Countdown Deal this week. Check it out for 99 cents.
I am getting back into the picture book business. Baseball and Aliens is my next project. Intended for late first grade readers and up. It is illustrated by John Balsley. My last few books have been longer chapter books so I thought I would change it up a little. I am getting excited as we continue to work on this.
I love the fact that I can work with an illustrator that isn’t near me. John is here in the US. Carla who does the wonderful work on my Kevin books is in the UK. I just love that. And the fact that I don’t have to go through a publisher to work with them is even more awesome. Remember that if you are shopping around your book to publishers, doing it the traditional way means you wont get any input into the illustrations. I learned that when I was shopping Kevin and the Seven Lion around. The publishers were clear they decided on the illustrator. This way I get to collaborate and decide what works and what doesn’t. I love this world.
Here are some illustrations from the upcoming book. Should be ready in August.
Update: Here is John’s Tumbler page to see more of his work.
